The concept of social behavior and its elements
social behavior |
Concept of Social Behaviour:
Behavior refers to the incidents that take place in a person's daily
life and the activities that a person performs and interacts with a group of
people and with whom they interact. The conduct includes:
A- External behavior: we can observe it objectively and it manifests itself in the form of verbal or non-verbal expressions, and there are differences in some non-verbal expressions, especially signs, according to what is prevalent in the culture of the peoples, and an example of this is the method of peace and greeting that differs from one society to another.
B- Internal behavior: It is any mental process that the individual
follows, such as thinking, remembering, realizing, imagining and others, we
cannot observe it directly, but we infer its occurrence by observing its
results.
And according to the behavior of the individual, if it is an external
behavior, or the result of mental processes, if it is an internal behavior,
which is emitted by the individual, when do we say that it is a social
behavior?
To answer this question we must
agree that each society has its own traditions, and I know, even its religion,
we can say that this is social behavior and that it is antisocial behavior as
prevalent and recognized.
Social behavior in our society requires respect for regulations and laws
and a commitment to religion, morals and social values derived from The
Arab-Islamic heritage can be identified as a person who exhibits social
behavior if it is characterized by an attitude positive and optimistic.
characterized by scientific thinking and a strong and cooperative personality
with a preference for group interest over personal interest.
He works with benevolence, preserves public property and the property of
others, and has honor and generosity, prescribing good and prohibiting evil and
all the qualities that characterize a believer.
Elements of social behavior:
Social behavior includes a set of elements that can be challenged by the
following:
- First, the character:
The responses of individuals to different situations are not just isolated conditional reflective actions as previously imagined, but knowing the personal characteristics of the individual and the nature of the situation they are facing leads to different behaviors as a result of what the situation imposes
one of the individuals can respond consistently of intelligence,
lethargy or nervous tension, but the personality of the individual is
determined as a result of social interaction with others and existing human
relationships are in a specific pattern, these relationships project a shadow
over the human personality.
And since the personality of the individual is described as an
indication of the temperament and behavior of the individual and the type of
social organization in which he lives.
From the above it follows that the recurring question that says to what
extent do biological and cultural factors affect the personality of the
individual?
Perhaps the answer is that our
perception, feelings and behavior are clearly affected by education and living
conditions, to the point that some writers doubted that heredity had an effect
on the growth of an individual's personality. Some of them even went so far as
to deny the existence of this effect at all.
Rather, there are those who took
the matter seriously, and considered that the existence of differences in
psychological characteristics, something incompatible with democratic ideals
can be inherited.
The personality of the individual is a cultural product that results
from the interaction of its biological factors with its social environment and
its cultural components.
An integrated culture produces an
integrated personality, and the personality of a normal individual is a
personality that can be adapted to the culture in. Therefore, a normal
personality has a degree of consistency with the patterns of the community and
its standards.
Despite differing views on whether personality is a product of
environment or inheritance, the strongest possibility remains that both
environment and inheritance have clear contributions to the construction of
personality.
Therefore, we can infer that the
personality of the individual is nothing more than the product. both heredity
and the environment.
The normal personality differs from one culture to another due to the
different patterns of behavior, centers, and roles that each culture presents
to the individuals who live in it.
Thus, the normal level and the deviant level of behavior between one
culture and another or even within it. the same culture is determined.
It differs from time to time and
the social individual is the one who maintains a relationship A permanent
document with others, using means of communication with verbal and non-verbal
expressions.
What facilitates and deepens this communication is the use of symbols
with meaning, that is, the language of the culture in which you live, and that
have no meaning except for the group that uses them.
- Second: motives and needs:
The issue of motives or
forces that drive social behavior is a general issue, because the reality of
behavior is determined, of course, by its trajectories Behavior is the product
of a process in which vital factors and social influences interact.
The vital factors come
from within the individual, while social influences are those that confront the
individual from the actions of the individuals with whom the individual deals,
which activates their motivation because there is no behavior without a real
motive that cannot be ignored
.
Motivations are an
expression of the individual's needs, and these motivations are personal and
internal to the individual, since they are perceived in their environment as
auxiliary factors for the achievement of certain goals, and social behavior is
affected by human needs that can convert the individual in a social situation.
state of tension, which
through their culture and experiences transform needs into desires within the
framework of cultural and social concepts and explain these desires In terms of
being stimuli that lead to certain types of response or action, the role of
physiological needs or primary in Social behavior lies in accustoming the
individual to desirable habits in society Secondary needs develop according to
the mental maturity of the individual.
Examples of these
secondary needs are competence, self-fulfillment, belonging, love, and
appreciation.
The needs direct the
behavior of the individual to satisfy them, and many of the personality
characteristics depend on them, they arise from the needs of the individual and
the methods to satisfy them, adding the capacity of the individual to help him
reach the best level for him.
Secondary needs can be
satisfied in the desired direction. The need for affiliation, for example, can
be met through interaction in a cohesive group. Therefore, on the other hand,
people tend to formulate new goals instead of themselves when they can achieve
a specific goal. goal.
The individual lives in
a state of imbalance between himself and his environment, and this prompts him
to try to restore balance by all available means.
If the environment lacks the possibilities and
ingredients to help restore balance, it suffers from frustration and it is
called behavioral deviation, and this does not mean that normal individuals
find themselves between themselves and the environment with which they
interact. it does not exist for him, but they are states of equilibrium,
imbalance, and then equilibrium again. , Of course, this is how his life
continues.
- Third: Positive interactive behavior:
Each person has a special style of interaction, and from this he aspires
to the desired responses of people, and this he does in his own way.
Examples of interactive behavior are the speed of dialogue with others, and with this dialogue he learns that he has various behavior patterns and tendencies, and can organize his relationships with those with whom he negotiates within a framework of common values, culture and social traditions.
Man, by his nature, needs to live in a group with whom he collaborates
in preparing livelihoods and livelihoods, and can learn from them and at the
same time you can learn from him. He needs socialization, conviviality. ,
fellowship and neighborhood. No matter how high his level of knowledge or intelligence
is, he still needs others.
One of the indicators of the advancement of nations is the degree to
which they are characterized by social behavior.
To the extent that the children of a nation perform, there is no
desirable behavior that gives that nation character.
The interactive behavior of the individual is not limited to a specific place, the individual interacts with members of his family and community, sharing his joys and sorrows, and this type of interaction occurs at school with students and with those who teach him, and Interactive behavior can occur in multiple places.
such as places of worship, as religion influences It is
important that in people's hearts and places of worship are important
institutions that contribute to the individual's upbringing, interaction and
configuration of his behavior, especially the Friday sermon.
If you depart from the preaching of the sultans and adopt a prophetic
approach, its effects will be strong to impart and strengthen the spirit of
Islamic brotherhood and instill in it the love of good and avoid evil and the
development of democratic tendencies and habits. Sound, social, moral and
cooperative.
And places of worship also play a role that is no less important than
the role of school and friends, as it provides the individual with a normative
framework of behavior and develops their conscience and group spirit.
It stems from the fact that the mosque has an educational message that
must continue and be addressed to all humanity and is not limited to a narrow
specific group and instills virtuous religious values for individuals.
The society and through the interactive behavior achieved by the mosque,
the high teachings can be translated into practical behavior and the spirit of
brotherhood will prevail.
This becomes evident when a
believer is absent from Friday or congregation prayers for a long time, those
who are with him will miss him, and the question begins about the reason for
that absence and this question.
Today, as a result of scientific developments in communication devices,
communication can be achieved remotely, but communication with others through
direct encounter is still more effective in achieving positive interactive
behavior, despite the ease of communication and its low cost today.
It remains a means of social interaction through advanced communication (Internet, mobile phone) if used correctly it cannot be underestimated as a means of achieving positive interaction behavior.
